City Walk

The Top 3 Coastal Walks

From the Royal Botanic Garden to Milsons Point

Sydney, a truly magical city with an abundance of attractions, invites you to explore its beauty. Lace up your shoes and embark on a journey of discovery! Get ready to be blown away by the breath-taking views that await you during these walks.

On your first day in the city, with a desire to explore as much as possible, kick off your adventure at the Sydney Royal Botanic Garden. I recommend starting near the Art Gallery of NSW and following the path up to Mrs. Macquaries Point for the finest panoramic views of both the Sydney Opera House and the majestic Harbour Bridge. Next, take a leisurely stroll along the harbor's edge, where you can encounter various sculptures, including "Boy extracting Thorn," "Henry Lawson," "The Mare and Foal," and even a remarkable Whale sculpture.

For a quick leg break, pop over to the Leaf Dept Café !

Open Daily, from 8am to 4pm

If you're still up for more adventure, don't miss the chance to explore the Government House Sydney on top of the Botanic Garden, with its fantastic view of Sydney Harbour. Taking a guided tour there is a great way to immerse yourself in the rich history it offers.

The Government House is open from 9 am to 5 pm, with the last entry at 4 pm.

Going down that hill, you'll find yourself gazing at the Sydney Opera House with the Harbour Bridge in the background. See how the Harbour Bridge totally shows off its size compared to the Opera House! Be sure to admire the view from the Sydney Opera Bar, perhaps with a refreshing spritz in hand.

Now, let's take a closer look at Sydney Circular Quay. Reach that area through Moores Steps and climb the Macquaries Street stairs. From there, you'll have a beautiful view over the city, and you can descend to the train station and pier wharfs using the lift located on Cahill Expressway.

This central area serves as a transportation hub that can whisk you away to various destinations in the city (Get your OPAL Card):

By boat,

you can access places like Rose Bay, Manly, Milsons Point, Kirribilli, Taronga Zoo, Mosman, Watson Bay, and other locations along the eastern coast of Sydney.

For those opting for train or tram travel, you have the convenience of three tram lines and two train lines at your disposal, offering access to virtually any part of the city.

To explore The Rocks, simply pass through First Fleet Park and wander through the array of shops, cafes, and restaurants. Make a stop at Luna Lu to grab some Asian Fusion Food and Drinks!

Enjoy these treats on their terrace, right at the heart of the rocks, while you savor the enchanting view of the Opera House.

Dessert: Sticky Date

Pairing: Château Rieussec Carmes de Rieussec - Sauternes, France

Once you reach the stairs of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, as you crossing to reach Milson Point, feel free to capture as many photos as you desire but be cautious of the height!

Take a stroll through Kirribilli's charming streets, complete with its market, cafes, and cosy restaurants. You'll undoubtedly be captivated by the neighbourhood’s charm. Treat yourself to an ice cream at Gelatissimo and relax on the grass at Milson Point while admiring the stunning view of the Sydney Opera House.

Wrap up your stroll with a visit to the legendary Luna Park, where you can hop on the Big Wheel for sunset and relish the sweeping views from up high.

To head back, hop on the ferry from Milsons Point to Circular Quay to walk your way through the city center.
